Mushroom Magic! Mushroom spores shining like stardust against the torchlight. Just as plants use seeds, mushrooms use spores to reproduce and spread their genetic material to new locations. Photo taken in Goa, India in October 2023

This picture has been taken from a boat in Panna Tiger Reserve. There was a confirmed news about P141 and her cubs on the river bank feasting on the sambhar kill. We had gone looking for them on the previous day during evening but they were hiding because of the repeated movement of boat. In my morning safari I went straight to the boat as I wanted them in the morning light. Cubs were playing around the rocks when I reached the spot. And while playing one of them decided to take a break on this rock making it a dream frame for me with the morning warm light falling on the cub.

This image was taken at Koblar Bill during July. The Pheasant tail Jacana fathers are known to be fierce protectors. They tend to hide their little ones under the hood of their features as the monsoons approach and it starts pouring. Here is one such instance when the Jacana chick rides on its fathers back and peaks through his features.

Captured in the heart of Ranthambore National Park, home to some of India’s most majestic tigers. The young sub-adult tiger in the frame is one of Tigress Riddhi’s cubs, beginning to explore life while still carrying curiosity of youth. The swampy stretch seen here is a classic summer retreat for tigers — a mix of cooling water, fallen logs, and tall grasses that provide shade and camouflage. Such habitats are vital for their survival, offering both relief from the scorching heat and a safe space to rest while remaining hidden. The image reflects the perfect balance of strength and serenity, a tiger poised within its natural landscape. Taken with Canon R1 400MM

Enter the dragon - In the wetlands of Mangalajodi, Odisha, a Purple Heron waited silently among the reeds. With a sudden strike, it caught a large Indian Bull Frog, which leapt in vain to escape. What followed was a patient display of skill—the bird tossing and turning its prey again and again, trying to position it just right. For over ten minutes the struggle continued, water droplets sparkling in the air, until finally the frog slid down the Heron’s throat. The marsh returned to silence, holding within it the timeless rhythm of survival.

this backlit portrait of the Anamalai Spiny Lizard (Salea anamallayana) isolates its most striking feature—its jagged dorsal spines, silhouetted like ancient armor. Endemic to the southern Western Ghats, this elusive agamid thrives in montane shola forests and tea plantations at altitudes of 1700–2300m. Its spiny scales not only aid in camouflage but also deter predators. As an insectivore, it plays a vital ecological role by regulating arthropod populations, maintaining balance in fragile high-altitude ecosystems. This image, captured in Munnar rain forests with deliberate torch placement to accentuate the spines alone, pays homage to the lizard’s evolutionary artistry and its quiet guardianship of the forest floor.
