Here are the pictures selected by the Jury for the Collection-31.
In the stillness of the wild, a tiger emerges at the water’s edge, its powerful frame softened by the rippling ken river of panna tiger reserve before it. Each step is measured, every movement steeped in quiet dominance. Against the rugged backdrop of rock and grass, this solitary figure becomes both predator and poet — the beating heart of the wilderness.

This photo was taken in Mangalajodi, Odisha. In this picture shows a whiskered tern in flight, skilfully captured mid-air just above a body of water, with its wings fully outstretched and a small fish held in its beak. The bird’s plumage is a blend of pale grey and white tones, with distinct dark markings on its head and around its eyes, while the background is softly blurred with green and blue hues, emphasising the bird’s dynamic action and graceful movement.

'When the storm meets the stripes' On a summer safari at Tadoba, the scorching sun gave way to a sudden cyclonic storm. Amidst torrential rain and fading light, Tiger Xylo emerged and walked with unshaken grace. From a moving vehicle, I captured this rare encounter — a tiger embracing the storm. May'25 ,Tadoba

In the month of January 2025, when the atmosphere was covered by fog and mist, I visited Bardhaman District in West Bengal to capture the winter and migratory birds. At dawn, I set out quietly in a small boat and spotted a Purple Heron waiting patiently by the water. Expecting it to hunt a fish or frog, I stayed at a safe distance, ready to capture the action. To my amazement, the heron hunted a Baillon’s Crake, an extremely rare and elusive bird. With perfect instinct and quiet power, it overpowered the crake and finally consumed it. This extraordinary moment revealed the heron’s natural hunting behavior and adaptability in the wild. The sequence from ambush to final capture showcased the raw power and precision of nature. Framed by the misty, serene wetlands, it was a rare natural history encounter that revealed the hidden stories of survival and the unexpected force of life in the wild. In the end, it was the unfortunate Baillon’s Crake that became the heron’s prey.

Grey heron Vs Black-headed ibis Mangalajodi Village in Odisha While observing from our boat for quite some time, we noticed a Black-headed Ibis persistently trying to catch prey in the shallow waters. With patience and precision, it finally succeeded — capturing a snake in its beak. Just as it seemed like a rewarding end to the hunt, nature showed its unpredictable side. Out of nowhere, a Grey Heron swooped in and snatched the snake away from the ibis in a swift, calculated move. In the photo we captured, the Grey Heron is seen swallowing the snake, while the Black-headed Ibis stands behind, helplessly watching its hard-earned catch disappear. This moment was a powerful reminder of how competitive survival can be in the wild. Even a successful hunt can turn into a loss in the blink of an eye.
