Red Frog - The Moss-Cloaked Frog - Leap into Joy - Amboli toad Deep within the lush, misty forests of Amboli, I encountered one of the smallest yet most fascinating creatures I have ever seen. This tiny frog, no bigger than a thumb, seemed almost unreal at first glance. As I carefully moved closer, I noticed something truly remarkable—its red and brown skin carried a small green patch that looked exactly like moss, as if nature had painted camouflage directly onto its body. The moment felt magical. It was as though the frog had become a part of the forest itself, blending so perfectly that it could easily be missed. Capturing this image required patience and stillness, allowing the frog to remain undisturbed in its natural behavior. Despite the rain and challenging conditions, I was drawn into this quiet interaction, observing how effortlessly it existed in its environment. There was something deeply humbling about the encounter. In a world where we often overlook the smallest details, this tiny frog reminded me of the incredible artistry of nature—where even the smallest life forms carry stories of adaptation, survival, and beauty hidden in plain sight.

A Malabar pit viper rests coiled on wet laterite rock in Amboli, in the late morning gloom of the monsoon forest. Endemic to the Western Ghats, this ambush predator is mostly active at night and often spends the day resting motionless, relying on camouflage. It occurs in several colour morphs, and this pale green-blue form blends with the lichen and moss around it.

A Statement from the Wild. You wait. You watch. You earn it. And if you’re lucky, the jungle lets you witness its power move.

Shantanu Anand

Bangalore (Karnataka)

About Photographer
I’m a wildlife photographer based in Bangalore, India, with a deep focus on documenting Indian wildlife in its truest form. My interest lies not just in capturing striking visuals, but in telling honest stories—of the land, the light, the silence, and the lives that exist within it. Over time, I’ve moved away from chasing clean, polished frames. I’m more drawn to the wild as it actually is—unpredictable, imperfect, and deeply real. I believe that every encounter, no matter how fleeting or chaotic, holds something worth paying attention to. My approach is simple: observe more than I shoot, and stay honest in how I present what I see. It’s not about perfection—it’s about staying true to the moment, and letting the wild speak for itself.

“Echo of the Wild” On a crisp winter morning near Bigwan, a lone Indian grey wolf stands at the edge of a silent ridge. The land stretches endlessly below, dry and unforgiving, yet alive with unseen stories. It lifts its head and releases a haunting howl—an echo that travels across valleys and grasslands, searching for its distant pack. This call is more than sound; it is a mark of presence, a thread of connection in a world where solitude defines survival. Bathed in the soft golden light of dawn, the wolf becomes one with the landscape—resilient, watchful, and free. As silence returns, its echo lingers, carrying the timeless voice of the wild across Bigwan’s vast horizon.

Through my lens, I strive to capture moments that go beyond visuals—moments that tell stories, evoke emotion, and reveal the subtle narratives unfolding in nature. Each frame is an attempt to present these stories as I see them, offering a perspective that is both personal and immersive; photography becomes a medium to express the untamed beauty of life.

Spotted this langur sitting quietly at the edge of a massive tree trunk during an early morning safari in Kanha. The heavy canopy and thick forest fog created this natural, shadowy frame around it, with just enough light piercing through to catch the outline of the monkey. I kept it in black and white to lean into that raw, moody wilderness feel without forcing anything.

Sri Ganesh Bailupudi

Chennai (Tamil Nadu)

About Photographer
This is Sri Ganesh Bailupudi, a Chennai based wildlife photographer. A software engineer by profession and a photographer by passion. I am a native of Andhra Pradesh, but brought up in Chennai. Choosing wildlife over other genres of photography is because of the diversity and unpredictability, understanding nature and its emotions is beautiful. The exciting part is you have to be agile and prepared for surprises that the nature has for you. The forests calm me more than anything else, spending time in the wild and experiencing moments through eyes, and if lucky enough, capture them through my lens.

The Silent Duel - This image was captured at Athirappilly, where two Asian elephants were engaged in an intense interaction near the Chalakkudy river. Their posture, crossed trunks and tusks created a moment that felt almost like a confrontation, while still being part of their natural social behaviour. I chose a monochrome treatment to emphasise their forms and interaction and to remove the distraction of the surrounding forest. The dark tones and layered landscape help create a dramatic atmosphere while keeping the focus on the behaviour of these magnificent animals.

Majesty Amid the Rocks.. On 14th May morning safari in the Jhirna zone of Jim Corbett National Park, I was incredibly fortunate to see and capture the famous Bhalu Sot tigress. Known for her bold and fierce presence in the forest, she appeared gracefully on the route between Kathpulia Chowki and Bhalu Sot, giving us a breathtaking close-range sighting. Watching such an elusive queen of the jungle in her natural habitat and capturing that moment through my lens was truly an unforgettable experience..
