The intricate patterns in the eyes of the Oaklandrae reed frog are a sight to behold. Rare and elusive, it generally resides inside hollow bamboo stalks. Catching a glimpse of this frog demands long hours of searching and exploring the jungles of the Western Ghats. Occasionally, they venture out in the darkness of the night, offering a fleeting opportunity to photograph these elusive amphibians.

Place: Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand Date: July 2026 During a visit to Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, I came across this elephant standing quietly in the grassland. I photographed it from a low perspective, allowing the surrounding grass and misty atmosphere to frame the animal naturally. I later converted the image to black and white to emphasize the elephant’s textured skin, powerful presence, and the mood of the landscape. The moment felt peaceful and timeless, capturing the quiet connection between a wild elephant and its natural habitat!!

Where the wild wears its crown. High upon a rocky outcrop, a peacock stood surrounded by an endless sea of scrub and forest. this was one of those moments that made me stop and simply observe. The bird was small against the vastness of the landscape, yet when it opened its magnificent train, it seemed to command the entire scene. I deliberately kept the composition wide to show the scale of its habitat and the solitude of the moment. . A fleeting display, witnessed from a distance, in a landscape that has been its home long before I arrived.

Heir of the Terai- December’25, Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary. Fog draped the terai like a shroud at 7 AM. Visibility under 20 meters. We killed the gypsy engine. Then he appeared — a sub-adult male Bengal tiger, perhaps 3 years old, walking straight down the forest track. Not hiding. Claiming. This is Kishanpur’s winter soul: sal and shisham fading into mist, a blurred safari vehicle behind, and a future king in sharp focus. His eyes hold both curiosity and command — the fragile moment between cub and sovereign. Shot on Sony Alpha with 200-600mm lens. The terai arc is India’s lifeline for tigers. Every young male that survives dispersal here is hope made flesh. I pressed the shutter as the forest held its breath. One frame. One tiger. One fragile kingdom emerging from the fog.

Yashodhar Pandya

Vadodara (Gujarat)

About Photographer
I’m Yashodhar Pandya, a finance professional who found a second classroom in the Indian wild. Curiosity pulled me out of spreadsheets and onto forest trails across Gujarat and Central India. I travel solo not for isolation, but for attention. I sit with villagers, forest guards, and people who read the jungle by instinct. I photograph to document, not to dominate: a leopard at dusk, an alarm call, a corridor under pressure. I share these field notes as @yashodhar.matty. I’m not an expert. I’m a learner who keeps showing up
