**Inheritance of the Wild** Deep within the forests of Bandhavgarh, an extraordinarily rare moment unfolds — a golden jackal pup clutching the skull of a monkey, while its parents stand guard in a scene charged with tension and instinct. The snarling adult, the piercing stare, and the fragile pup together tell a story far beyond survival; it is the passing of wilderness from one generation to the next. Captured in April 2026, Bandhavgarh national park, this frame is a haunting reminder that in the wild, even innocence carries the symbols of life, death, and the brutal lessons of the jungle.

I rediscovered my love for wildlife in January 2025, starting in the lush forests of South India and gradually exploring the landscapes of Central India and my home state of Uttarakhand. Whether it's the quiet intensity of a tiger in its natural habitat or the split-second flight of a bird, I aim to showcase the beauty, behavior, and stories of wildlife in their natural world.
We entered Zone 2 at Ranthambore with low expectations for big cats. The guides told us Riddhi's Family was in Zone 3, while Noori and Badal were over in Zone 1. But the jungle always has its own script. Minutes into the safari, this beautiful leopard appeared, locked onto a spotted deer. She charged toward the deer under a tree, but in a fraction of a second, she changed her plan. At lightning speed, she pivoted, scaled the tree, and snatched a langur right out of the branches. This is nature at its most raw and unfiltered—where survival hinges on a single heartbeat, and a sudden change in strategy means the difference between hunger and a feast. Sometimes the unexpected route leads to the most unforgettable moments. This is the wild where every meal is earned, and every step tells a story.

A malabar gliding frog explores a glowing rainforest elephant ear leaf, turning a single frame into an entire jungle universe. The illuminated veins resemble nature’s circuitry, while the silhouette adds scale, mystery, and quiet drama. Minimal yet cinematic, the photograph transforms an ordinary leaf into a towering emerald landscape where life appears both fragile and fearless. No direct light was used on the animal , normal torch light was used on the leaf.

Competing for Subsidies At a designated village dumping ground, a grim ecological succession unfolds over the skeletal remnants of a domestic carcass. A dominant Himalayan Griffon, having gorged on the soft tissue, anchors itself to the remaining brisket. From the periphery of a larger pack, a feral dog advances with bared teeth and a rigid, hostile posture. In response, the massive vulture lowers its torso and gapes its beak in a hiss of pure, territorial aggression. This tense standoff captures the raw, face-to-face competition between native avian scavengers and introduced mammalian predators over vital anthropogenic food subsidies. Jalpaiguri, West Bengal

High in the frozen wilderness of the Indian Himalayas, a rare and intimate moment unfolded—one that few will ever witness. On a misty morning, a mother Himalayan Brown Bear played gently with her cub on the snow-covered slopes. She rolled through the powdery snow, nuzzling her little one with quiet affection, while the playful cub responded with joyful leaps and clumsy tumbles. Their bond spoke through touch, movement, and shared joy, revealing the tender side of life in the wild. Yet such moments are becoming increasingly rare. The Himalayan brown bear is endangered, facing threats from poaching for its fur and body parts, conflicts with shepherds protecting livestock, and habitat loss caused by deforestation. Protecting these magnificent bears and their fragile mountain home is essential to ensure future generations can witness scenes like this.
