Dart Combat - In the heart of Keoladeo National Park, also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, two darters were engaged in a fierce territorial battle. The center pond, a good fishing area for Darters, became a battleground as these slender, snake-necked birds fought with tremendous aggression with dramatic movements. Their sharp beaks clashed, and wings flapped furiously, sending splashes of water into the air. Each dramatic movement was fueled by momentum, as they strove to send out the intruder. Capturing the images of the Darters fight involved Skill, patience, a telephoto lens with the camera being finely tuned, and a keen eye for movement. Observing their interactions over time allowed me to anticipate the clash, ensuring I was ready to capture the dramatic moments.

In 2021, I visited the Sundarban Biosphere Reserve in search of wilderness moments. On the final day of our boat safari, we tracked the elusive swamp tiger by following fresh pugmarks but luck was not on our side. As we packed our camera gear and the boat returned to the riverbank, our guide suddenly pointed out a sleeping Jungle Cat nearby. Without wasting a second, I lifted my camera and began photographing it from different angles. To our surprise, the cat slowly woke up, stretched its body and gave a massive yawn, showing off its sharp teeth before disappearing into the dense mangroves. That unexpected moment washed away all our disappointment. We were overjoyed and deeply thankful to Mother Nature. She proved once again that the wild always has its own way of rewarding patience and passion.

As the first light of dawn kissed the wetlands of the Little Rann of Kutch, nature awakened in perfect harmony. Flamingos stood gracefully in the glowing waters, while ducks soared across the fiery sun, painting a story of peace and wilderness. The reflection of the rising sun bathed the scene in warm hues of orange and red, creating a surreal canvas. I waited patiently for this magical moment where flight, stillness, and light met in one frame. This image captures not just a sunrise, but the soul of a living landscape. A fleeting moment, forever frozen in time.

What an elusive creature the fox is. I had barely three minutes to observe and photograph it before it vanished into its den. I waited in silence for over two hours, hoping it would return—but it never did. That’s when I truly understood: a fox is a fox—unpredictable, cautious, and brilliantly elusive. Yet in that brief encounter, I witnessed a cuteness beyond compare. And finally, capturing that moment felt like photographing a ghost—fleeting, rare, and unforgettable.”

Leopard with Nilgai Carcass - This guy had us searching him through the entire safari, only to reveal himself at the end of the day. He casually settled near this month-old nilgai carcass under a tree, in extremely low light conditions. True to his nature, he does what he wants, when he wants. Capturing this clean shot amid all the bush and a big tree in front of me with fading light was nothing short of a miracle.

This is an in-camera multiple exposure / double exposure shot. Nature Photography is a matter of Beauty. I have taken 2 shots and camera merged them into one. In 1st image I have placed the mating pair at the lower part of the frame using flash diffuser. Then in 2nd image I have taken the foggy forest without flash and in Tungsten white balance mode. Camera merged them into one and gives me a single NEF RAW file. In this image I wish to express the feel of Wilderness. This image was taken in cold winter morning.

A Majestic Flight This frame of a Pied Harrier male was captured in a grassland in Hooghly district of West Bengal sometime during the last winter. I waited an entire day to capture the pied harrier right from early foggy hours of cold morning. I lost all hopes was just planning to call it a day and return home when he appeared from nowhere just infornt of me soaring past the mustard fied just before the twilight hours. This moment of flight was captured when the pied harrier decided to change the direction of his flight path. The condition was also a bit of challenging as the shot was taken against the light.
