FREEDOM: This is my favorite macro item which we call "Crane fly". In the late winter, every day when coming back to my home after a day long schedule in school, I have to pass a small forest area. It's my habit to search road side forest to get some macro element. And doing some experiment have become instinct. These are Cranefly hanging from spider’s web silk. These are the tinniest, smallest and lightest fly I have ever seen. It has crane like long legs. With these legs they hang from web silks. This fly can be seen near forest area hanging from spider web silks. I get this fly every year from spring to before start of heavy cold. They are so light that they can fly even with light winds and noise. They vibrate with the sound of a moving motorcycle. When photographing this fly adjacent to road side, one can face this problem. Due to small in size it is very tough to identify unless sun ray fall on it. For last two years I am experimenting with 60-70 years old vintage lens adapting it with my DSLR. This is the result of that experiment. Here I have used Helios 44M-6 58mm F/2 lens adapted with my DSLR Nikon D500. Here I have shot three images one for cranefly with Tamron 90mm VC USD, second with Helios keeping camera on in Kelvin warm tone and third one with same lens in Tungsten white balance mode. Camera have merged above three images and gives me a single NEF RAW file.

Picture Details

During our evening safari at Panna Tiger Reserve, nature took a dramatic turn. As we observed a majestic tiger resting peacefully in the grassland, a massive dust storm suddenly swept across the landscape. The calm of the moment shattered into chaos as strong winds and clouds of dust engulfed the area. In a startling and rare display of behavior, the tiger, clearly startled by the storm, sprang to its feet and sprinted toward a nearby tree. To our amazement, it began climbing the trunk—an unusual action for a creature known more for its power on the ground than agility in trees. Driven by instinct, the tiger appeared to seek higher ground or simply a more secure vantage point amid the turbulence. The scene was both chaotic and awe-inspiring. The swirling dust, howling wind, and the tiger’s quick, decisive movements revealed a lesser-seen side of this apex predator—its resilience and instinctive adaptability in the face of sudden environmental stress. This brief, intense episode offered a rare window into the tiger’s survival instincts and underscored the unpredictable beauty of wildlife in its natural habitat.
