In May 2024, during my visit to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, I had an unforgettable encounter on the final day of my expedition. After a thrilling morning of tiger sightings, I drifted off to sleep, only to be jolted awake by my driver. He swiftly guided our gypsy to a water body, where I saw Katiwa, a mother tigress, cooling off in the summer heat. To my awe, her cub approached her, and they shared a profound moment, gazing at us with regal eyes. The cub nuzzled and licked its mother’s face - a heartwarming display of their deep bond. After cooling off, they emerged from the water and disappeared into the forest, leaving me in awe of nature’s tenderness and beauty.

I'm Tanmoy Das Karmakar from Kolkata, West Bengal. I've started my wildlife Photography from 2018. Later on I found my passion and interest in birds and wildlife photography, especially action moments. From the beginning I participated in many photography contests and exhibitions and regularly followed others photographers' work in Facebook and Instagram. Then I made a wildlife photography channel and contacted some of my photographer friends and went to various national parks, bird sanctuaries, and photography exhibitions with them. I visited many national parks and bird sanctuaries for photography. Gradually I became an expert in birds and wildlife photography and till now I'm learning photography from Google as well as many reputed photographers. I believe there is no end to learning. Till now I'm trying to improve my photography skills to better and continue pushing boundaries in the world of photography. I'm thankful to my parents for supporting me a lot in my wildlife journey.
Photo of a Crested serpent eagle from Nelliyampathy, Kerala, India. Shot o Nikon D500 and 200-500mm lens. Nelliyampathy is known as the land of Greater Hornbills but we can find a good number of raptors as well in this place if closely observe the surroundings. On this day we 4 were heading to Nelliyampathy and on the way we found this bird on a tree in the middle of the tea estate. We stopped our car and came out, and started clicking the photos. As it is on the roadside trying multiple angles was not possible and we all were standing in the same place and were taking the photos, possibly the similar frames. After clicking enough photos I started searching for possible ways where can create some unique frames. I found a tree near the road with some good green leaves. I am a big fan of photos with foreground blur and I used that tree and leaf as my foreground and captured this frame, A photo of a serpent eagle blend into the green.

Terai tigers have always fascinated me. Their darker and denser coat and broader facial structure which is possibly due to a historical gene flow with Indo-Chinese tigers. While they are Bengal tigers only but slightly different from tigers in the rest of the country. These traits help them blend into the sal forests and dense grasslands of the Terai region. In this photograph, Pedwali's cub emerged from the mist, with her glowing coat in the golden light. The stunning Dhikala backdrop made the morning even more special.

It’s always been my dream to be a wildlife photographer. When I was 15 I bought my first camera but I never got the chance to go to a national park. A few years later, I went to my first national park and never looked back ever since. I’m an amateur photographer who is still learning but I’m definitely glad that I’m following my passion and doing what I love!
Magical Dust Bath There are so many reasons for dust bath of elephants i) To cool down their body ii) A layer of protection from Sunrays since elephant has sensitive skin. iii) Protection from insects. A herd of elephant came the center of the road after crossing Ramganga river. The dust generated by elephants trapped in the back light makes the image magical in nature canvas. Clicked at Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand, India

Aquatic Victory In February, with winter lingering in Bharatpur's cold, wet landscape, I patiently waited for the perfect shot, hoping to capture birds in action. After about half an hour, a few cormorants landed, diving frequently for fish. Suddenly, one emerged with a large fish, triggering a fierce confrontation, each bird battling for the prize. I was ready, my camera settings finely tuned, and I captured the entire series.
