Captured at Karnala Bird Sanctuary in Mumbai, Maharashtra, this vibrant image depicts a pair of Black-backed dwarf kingfishers engaged in a feeding frenzy. The shot was taken on 29th of august 2024, during a morning visit to the sanctuary. A pair of Black-backed dwarf kingfishers, with their plumage a dazzling array of blues, oranges, and reds, were perched on a moss-covered branch. One of the birds, wings outstretched, was diving towards the moss-covered branch , its beak filled with a fresh lizard kill. The entire scene unfolded in a split second, a testament to the incredible speed and agility of these fascinating creatures. This moment of nature's raw beauty was a highlight of my visit to Karnala Bird Sanctuary. It serves as a reminder of the incredible diversity and wonder of the natural world.

This picture takan at purulia ,WB. As the sun sets, casting a warm orange glow over the hill, a mother fox settles into her den, surrounded by her playful cubs. Mother fox breast feeding her cubs is a tender and intimate moment, showcasing the loving care and nurturing instinct of a mother towards her young ones, giving them the strength and vitality they need to grow and thrive. The mother fox keeps a watchful eye, her ears perked up and alert for any signs of danger. But for now, all is peaceful, and she can simply enjoy this special moment with her precious cubs, bathed in the warm, golden light of dusk.

PARTHA SARATHI MAHANTY

Purulia (West Bengal)

About Photographer
I am Partha Sarathi Mahanty, Wildlife Photographer from Purulia, West Bengal with 15 years of experience capturing the beauty of nature and the behaviour of wildlife in their natural environment. As I have a passion for nature and wildlife, I visited so many National Parks, jungles and hill areas. I always try to take pictures of static poses and action shots to present them as a photograph to the World for delight. I spend long hours to photograph wildlife in their natural settings by observing wildlife in their natural habitats and waiting for the right moment to capture images in various locations, often in remote and challenging environments. To anticipate and capture unique moments and interactions, I tried to develop an in-depth knowledge of the behaviour and habits of the animals. I am grateful to my family for their continuous support towards my journey through lenses.
