I visited Mangalajodi Wetland, from Odisha in India, with the intention of observing & clicking the migratory birds. During the trip, I was lucky enough to witness this sequence, The Purple Heron killed a big fish for its lunch. The Purple Heron was busy in aligning the fish to gulp it down. In a sudden moment, A Brahminy Kite appeared in the scene and directly attacked the Purple Heron with the intention of snatching it away from it, typical predator! But the Purple Heron had a heart of steel, it did not let go of its hard earned kill and fought valiantly by spreading its wings to distract the Brahminy Kite and cleverly it let go of the fish. It was an outstanding experience for me to witness such a rare natural history moment where the brave Purple Heron counter attacked to protect its kill and food from the Brahminy Kite.
