"Evening Exodus: Wild Asses' Homeward Path" The Wild Ass is a species of Equus native to the deserts of western India, particularly in the state of Gujarat. They are the state animal of Gujarat and are protected by law. Wild Asses are well adapted to the harsh desert environment and can survive without water for long periods of time. Their populations have decreased due to habitat loss, hunting and competition with domesticated animals for resources. Conservation efforts are underway to protect and preserve the remaining Wild Ass populations in Gujarat.

In Amboli, Maharashtra, amidst heavy rainfall, an intriguing behavior of the Deccan Banded Gecko (Cyrtodactylus deccanensis) unfolded before my lens. Perched atop a rain-slicked rock, this lizard exhibited a captivating act of ocular hygiene. Using its tongue, the gecko meticulously cleaned its eyes, providing a rare insight into its adaptations. Such behavior is a testament to the gecko's finely tuned evolution in response to the challenging terrain. The interplay of raindrops on its scales and the calculated eye-licking moment offers a snapshot of the gecko's resilience in the lush, biodiverse ecosystem of Amboli, Maharashtra, fostering a deeper understanding of its survival strategies.
