Is scorpions are bio luminescent? The answer is no, Scorpions glow under ultraviolet light. But this is not bioluminescence, as they are not generating their own light. The blue-green glow comes from a substance found in the hyaline layer, a very thin but super tough coating in a part of the scorpion’s exoskeleton called the cuticle. Amboli ( Maharashtra )always gives surprises. In the morning trail, we found a scorpion sitting on a rock, silently. Without disturbing it, we experimented luminescence effect using a UV torch. cut off the extra light using an umbrella.
