The Gray Langurs. Royalty, grandeur and hostility all expressed at the exact moment the mother noticed my camera shutter snapping. The immediate approach of the father in order to protect it's offspring from potential threat while the mother stared straight through the lens proves how every species deals with emotions and possessiveness daily.

Year 2021 was full of surprises as far as weather was concerned. Untimely rains and storms impacted not just humans and agriculture but also the migration patterns of birds. On one such grassland safari near Veer dam in October 2021, the sun was blazing in the afternoon and I was hopeful to see a few raptors roosting in the evening. But soon enough the dark clouds gathered and it started pouring, we continued to drive at a slow pace. Luckily for us, just before the sunset, our learned guide spotted this Indian Fox on a mound, getting drenched and enjoying the rains without a care in the world. What more could I have asked for? I quickly got my camera ready for the rains and captured this unique and beautiful moment. As they say, every dark cloud has a silver lining!

Blue-Eared Kingfisher Biological Name: Alcedo Meninting Place: Vanoshi Forest Stay, Sindhudurg District - Jan 2021 It was my third day at Vanoshi forest homestay. On my last visit I had heard about the sighting of this rare Kingfisher specie near the stream area in the backyard of the forest stay. As per the information received, in the late afternoon and late evening this Kingfisher is spotted near the stream area. So after my morning trail near the campus I had returned back just before the lunch time, so I went near the stream area to check its presence. To my luck I saw this beauty passing through swiftly as all the Kingfishers always do. So I waited patiently for some more time at the newly constructed ramp area at the stream and my wait was worthwhile and in few minutes this beauty appeared again and perched itself on the branch of the tree close to the stream. It is one of the rare breeds of Kingfisher birds found in the Indian subcontinent especially in the Konkan area and on this trip I did manage to cover the other species too..!!!
